Cobalt 323

Following in the wake of its sister ship, the 232, the Cobalt 323 makes the most of available space throughout. In the cabin, a U-shaped lounge can be used for seating and converted to a berth with the inclusion of a filler cushion.

The head and shower are roomy, with a hanging locker to store everything out of sight.

The cabin galley comes fully-equipped with a microwave and stove and an adjoining table allows the chef to put the finishing touches on a hot meal for all the crew to enjoy.

Entrance to the cabin is direct and the centre door allows for roomy seating on each side of the deep-walled cabin. A 12-inch stainless steel ladder slides into the door space from its portside storage for quick bow access.

A flip-out dinette table hides in the portside sidewall, ready to swing out when guests come aboard. A built-in ice chest stands next to the wet bar and is finished in Corian, with hot and cold sink and refrigerator.

At the helm, seating is flexible and more room can be added by moving the backrest forward for a friend to sit nearby. Sternward, the cockpit seating links with the sunpad. A bimini top comes standard for added protection against the elements. Standard instrumentation, such as compass, depth gauge, air and water temperature are clearly legible and the engine controls are positioned within easy reach.

Other features include radar and VHF radio, with cabin entertainment courtesy of a television and 10-disc CD stereo system. Spotlights, docking lights, anchor windlass and double-arm windshield wipers are also included.

The Cobalt 323 comes with a five-year warranty on the powertrain and 10 years on the hull and deck.

King Catamaran 38

Queensland-based luxury power catamaran manufacturer, King Catamarans recently made its mark on the cruiser world with the release of its King Catamaran 38.

The 38 features three large berths in a variety of configurations. The first option, known as the ‘family layout’, has a queen bed to starboard, two single beds to port and a double bed aft.

The ‘couple layout’ features a queen bed and ensuite to starboard, two single beds to port and a double bed aft, while the charter layout includes double beds both port and starboard, with the option of an ensuite, along with the double bed aft.

Inside the spacious galley, you’ll find Corian benchtops, a four-burner stainless steel gas cooktop and oven, 130-litre stainless steel refrigerator, twin sinks and a microwave.

A lounge/dinette big enough to seat six adults lowers to create a double berth and guests are entertained via the AM/FM CD stereo system with four speakers to the saloon, and a pair each for the cockpit and flybridge.

The roomy rear cockpit features a sink, barbecue, bait tanks, kill tanks, fresh water deck shower, seating and fully moulded stairs to the flybridge, which has enough room to seat up to 12 adults.

Recent sea trials saw the 38 use 32-litres per hour at 16 knots, according to King Catamarans. The 38 tops out at 23 knots and has a claimed comfortable cruising range of 17-18 knots.
