Privacy
The following privacy statement applies to Allianz New Zealand Limited’s website (the Site) and should be read in conjunction with the General Terms and Conditions. By viewing and using this Site you will be deemed to agree to this privacy statement. If you do not agree to this privacy statement you should stop accessing and using the Site.
1. Collection: Allianz New Zealand Limited (Allianz) may gather two types of information about you from the Site: (a) personal information, provided by you at the time of any voluntary registration which may be required for the services Allianz offers, or through voluntary completion of any forms (or similar) on this Site; and (b) aggregate information generated by Allianz’s systems, which track traffic to the Site but do not relate to you personally. Failure to provide necessary personal information when requested may result in certain services not being available to you.
2. Disclosure of Information: Allianz may disclose to third parties: (a) any information that Allianz gathers about you for the purposes of providing the services requested by you; (b) aggregate tracking information and other information that does not personally identify you; (c) your personal information, when Allianz believes in good faith that Allianz is required to do so by law; (d) your personal information, provided Allianz has your prior authorisation, which Allianz will usually obtain at the time of collecting the information from you.
3. Use: Allianz uses the personal information it collects: (a) to verify your identity and assist you if you forget your password or login details that are required for any of Allianz’s registration services; (b) to assist in providing the services requested by you; (c) to provide further information to you about other websites and services, or which Allianz considers may be of interest to you; (d) for future marketing, promotional and publicity purposes, including direct marketing, market research and surveys; (e) for ensuring that you are shown the information that is most relevant to you and your interests; and (f) for any other use that you authorise.
4. Cookies and Tracking: Allianz may use a “cookie” file containing information that can identify the computer you are working from. The cookie file does not identify you or your business personally, as it only gives Allianz details of your IP address, PC platform (e.g. Windows, Linux or Mac), Browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox or other, plus the version of Browser) and domain (whether you are accessing the Site from NZ or elsewhere). Allianz may use the information generated by cookies: (a) to track traffic patterns to and from the Site; (b) to ensure any advertising is being shown to the most appropriate party; and (c) to enable you to enter the Site and use certain services as a member without having to log on each time and to visit any registered user only areas of the Site. You can choose to refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser and/or deleting them from your hard drive. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use the Site, but you may need them for customizable areas of the Site that Allianz may develop in the future, or to access and benefit from certain functionality offered by the Site.
5. Content Providers, Advertisers and Partners: Allianz does not control the practices of any content providers, partners and advertisers connected with the Site and to whom you provide personal information whilst using one of their sites or services. The Site contains links to other sites, which may not follow the same privacy policies as Allianz. Allianz recommends that you check any relevant privacy policies before providing your personal information to any third party.
6. Opting in and Opting Out: If Allianz’s intended collection, use or disclosure of your personal information is outside the collection, use or disclosure set out in this Privacy Statement Allianz will give you the option: (a) to opt out and not receive certain services or participate in certain interactive areas; or (b) to opt in to agree to be contacted by Allianz in relation to certain matters such as notification of new features to the Site, beta testing or promotional activities.
7. Holding, Correcting and Updating: Any personal information that you provide to Allianz will be collected and held by Allianz at its official place of business in New Zealand as advised on the Site from time to time. If you are an individual, under the Privacy Act 1993, you have rights of access to and correction of personal information that Allianz holds. Allianz offers the ability to correct or change the information collected at any time and as often as necessary. Who is Allianz and Club Marine?
Allianz is a New Zealand wholly owned subsidiary of Allianz SE, one of the world's largest general insurance and financial service providers.
Club Marine is an Allianz subsidiary that specialises in marine insurance.

What is personal information?
Personal information is any information about a living person.

What is the purpose of the collection of your personal information?
Where it is possible we will collect personal information directly from you. The personal information collected and maintained by Club Marine comprises your name, address, contact details and information specific to your product preference.
However, in some circumstances we will need to collect your personal information from third parties. These circumstances may include collection of your personal information from an insurance investigator or a medical practitioner for the purposes of assessing your claim under the insurance policy.
When you give personal information about other individuals, we and our agents rely on you to have made or make them aware:
- that you will or may provide their information to us;
- the types of third parties to whom the information may be provided;
- the relevant purposes we and the third parties will disclose it to, will use it for: and
- how they can access it.
We rely on you to have obtained their consent on these matters. If you have not done or will not do either of these things, you must tell us or our agents before you provide the relevant information.
For some policies we also collect and maintain your sensitive information. This comprises information about your health, membership of any trade unions or professional associations and any criminal convictions you may have.
The information requested allows us to assess risks, write and administer your insurance cover and claims.
If we do not collect your personal information we will not be able to do business with you.
